Puerto Princesa: The Great Nature's Heritage

Puerto Princesa is one of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines. It is located in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. The west part faces the South China Sea and in the east part of it, the Sulu Sea can be seen.  It is considered to be the ecotourism capital of the country.  
It is said that the place is named after a Spanish Princess, Eulalia, born in 1864. Her parents Queen Isabel II and Dr. Francisco de Asis gave the name Puerto da la Princesa when the princess died. And as the time pass by, the name was reduced to Puerto Princesa as it is known today.
There are a lot of historical landmarks that can be found within the city, dating back to the Spanish colonialism.
The Immaculate Conception Cathedral, built in 1961, a century after the first mass was held to that very same place now where it stand.
The Princess Eulalia Park, the statue of the Princess was built there, whom it was named after. It is built as a remembrance for the founders of the place. The decree was proclaimed on March 4, 1872.
There are more landmarks to visit such as the Mendoza Park, The Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm, and the Plaza Quartel.
So much for the historical spots, now we will discuss the top most visited destination in the city, the  Subterranean River National Park or popularly known as the "Underground River".

The place is cherished and protected because of the spectacular limestone and landscapes. The river has a length of 8.2 km, Underground River that is directly connected to the sea. The highlights of the place are the discovery of minerals, crystals, rock formations, and the Miocene makes it significant to the field of science. It is also declared as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Aside from that, it was listed in the World Heritage Sites. Receiving those honorable awards, the government is in full effort to preserve, conserve, and maintain the cleanliness and beauty of the well-known tourist destination.
The place represents the nation’s effort in participating in global conservation of natural heritage.
Local and foreign tourist can't help but to fall in love and  be amazed by the place.
